Marilia Stagkouraki

Marilia Stagkouraki's practice is based on painting, drawing, video and collage and incorporates mixed media techniques. She's interested in frenetic environments, chaotic spaces and contemporary sufferings. Her work explores and expresses issues of human condition, identity, society, politics, gender, class, sexuality and the inspiration derives from real life, modern philosophers, the occult and subcultures. Straddling the line between transgression and the disturbed, Stagkouraki combines aggression and absurdity with a feeling of pleasure.
