Gateway is dedicated to providing individualized, arts-based services to adults with disabilities, and supporting meaningful lives and careers in art.
I mostly do architectural art, but the thing is, I'm afraid of heights, and I think it's a good coping skill.

In collaboration with Summertime, co-founder Sophia Cosmadopoulos, interviewed American self-taught artist William Scott ahead of his London solo show debut at Studio Voltaire. Scott’s practice imagines alternative realities that stem from a fundamental belief in the potential for positive human transformation. While deeply rooted in personal history, Scott’s paintings address wider questions of citizenship, community, and cultural memory.

Carlo Daleo + Summertime

In collaboration with Summertime, co-founder Sophia Cosmadopoulos, interviewed American self-taught artist Carlo Daleo (b.1961). Carlo has been attending LAND since it began in 2005. He is a talented draftsman, painter, writer, animator and voiceover artist, and earlier in 2021, Carlo was selected for a residency at Summertime for two months.

Monica Valentine + Summertime

In collaboration with Summertime, co-founder Sophia Cosmadopoulos, interviewed American artist Monica Valentine. She has attended Creative Growth since 2012. She lost her sight in early childhood and now wears prosthetic eyes. Colour dominates and informs much of Valentine’s life, and her ability to feel the colour of an object by its temperature is just one way that she uses colour to orient and empower herself in her environment.

Melvin Way in collaboration with Summertime

In collaboration with Summertime, co-founder Sophia Cosmadopoulos, interviewed American self-taught artist Melvin “Milky” Way, alongside his longtime friend Andrew Castrucci. Melvin Way (b. 1954) is an artist from South Carolina, whose work occupies the uncharted border between art and science. His drawings include scrawled text, mathematical equations and chemical formulae.

Paul Hodges on capturing Melbourne’s Cafes Melbourne, Australia
In October 2020, Margaret McIntosh from Arts Project Australia spoke with Paul Hodges, a mid-career artist known for his figurative paintings. Although his preferred medium is painting, he has worked across a variety of mediums throughout his career. This interview taps into his recent virtual exhibition – which featured his reverence of dancers and models – to show another angle of his interest in representing the human figure.
